The very first thing you should do before even contemplating a purchase is to have a sneaky peek in her lingerie draw.  Look at all the different labels and check the sizes!  Lingerie does tend to vary from brand to brand so looking at the sizes will give you a better and more accurate idea of the size you need to buy. Come on boys you know size matters!

Now you need to know exactly what it is you are looking for on that label.  A bra, corset or bustier for instance will have two measurements on the label, i.e, 34B, 40DD, 44G etc.  You will need both these measurements! The numbers indicate chest size and the letter is the cup size.

Buying knickers, suspender belts or thongs is the same as buying a dress as they are sized in exactly the same way, i.e, 10, 12, 18, 22, 24 etc.  Apply this theory when choosing babydolls, a chemise or shapewear.

Stockings can be a tricky area as they are not based on shoe sizes.  Nylon stockings for instance are sized according to height.  Whilst other brands simply use small, medium, large or extra large.  Generally small denotes a dress size 8-10, Medium would be 12-14, Large 14 – 16 and so on, but this is merely a guide, so proceed with caution.

The Ultimate Pin Up Girl

 You either love them or hate them, but most of us want to try them! 

Bullet Bra’s were the ultimate lingerie accessory for women of the 1940s.  It created a ‘Sweater Girl’ look made famous by Hollywood legends like Marilyn Monroe. 

Also affectionately known as ‘the cone bra’ or ‘the torpedo’, the bullet bra certainly made its presence felt at that time and is now reliving its revival.

Stockings are now making a huge comeback after tights (pantyhose) nearly wiped out stockings completely. Before WWII every women owned a pair of Nylon stockings, tights were unheard of in those days!

Even during the war, as rationing was in force, ladies would dab their legs with gravy browning and draw the seams down the backs of their legs with an eyebrow pencil.  Elegance was paramount even while bombs were dropping!

The difference between tights and stockings are endless.  Tights tend to be restrictive but very convenient for everyday use, albeit hot and can be uncomfortable when sitting down, not to mention unattractive.  Stockings on the other hand make you feel very feminine as they reveal the tops of the thighs, are more comfortable around the nether regions, and are without doubt, extremely attractive, especially when they are teamed up with a pair of stiletto heels.

There is only one problem with either stockings or tights, and that’s ladders.  Unfortunately even the most careful among us will ruin a favourite pair of stockings with a ladder at the most inopportune moments.

Stockings of all styles are all regarded as sexy hosiery for many women, and indeed men.  With the recession in full force it is well documented that lingerie items have bucked the downward trend.  Many sexy costumes are being sold throughout the country, and of course with every sexy costume, stockings are a must.  But it’s my opinion that stockings should be worn as part of everyday life, not just as an accessory to a nurse’s costume or with a corset to please your man. (Although that is important)!

With the overwhelming variety of styles, colours and sizes of stockings available today, is there a reason why anyone should still be wearing tights?
